illustrating opposites

I decided to publish my illustrations in a little booklet which I curated, printed and bound myself. Finding opposites that doesn’t offend someone isn’t as easy as one would think right away. So I settled for a mix of scientific and basic contrarieties. All together the booklet contains 10 sets of opposite fish.
First I wanted to illustrate by hand mixing ink one-line-drawings with a soft aquarelle shape. After many tries I figured that wasn’t the right technique for my purpose. The finished project is all illustrated digitally, mimiking inc and guache using the app procreate.
Every fish is created by two separate layers overlapping…

…one being a continuous line forming the shape
and the other one providing color.

The color palette is normed for the whole project so it ties together the separate opposites.
